L-410UVP-E reg. YV2081 (c/n 872015) of Transaven probably crashed into Caribbean near the Venezuelan
Los Roques islands today. The plane sent a distress signal and communications were lost. Rescue helicopters and vessels were sent to the probable crash site some ten km from Los Roques. At least eight Italian tourists and one American are feared to be among the 14 passengers and 2 crew on board. The plane initially served as blue "41" in Soviet Air Force since 1987, then went to AP Airlines in Lithuania (LY-AVX) and was sold to Aero Ferinco in Mexico (XA-ABK) in 2000 and to Venezuela in 2003, where it formerly used the
YV-1119C registration.
