Prague airport handled 1 339 938 passengers in August 2009, 4,5 % down compared the same month a year ago. The number of aircraft movements declined by 6,3% year-on-year to the total of 15 904 take-offs and landings. Segment of low cost carriers saw positive figures, representing a growth by 3,3%, full service carriers experienced a slight decrease of passenger numbers by 1,9 %, while the deepest fall in demand by 18,9% was noticed in the charter segment. Countries with the most significant increase in passenger volumes were Israel (+30,6 %) and Norway (+16,2 %). Paris Charles de Gaulle was the busiest route from Prague with 47 475 passengers, followed by London Heathrow and Moscow Sheremetyevo.
