January 2009 operation results of Prague Airport were negatively impacted by the current general economic development trends connected with a significant fall in demand for air travel. The passenger volumes declined by 13.9% year-on-year to 650 085 and the total number of aircraft movements dropped by 10.2% to 11 976 compared to the same period of 2008. An extensive reduction of flights was experienced within the low cost segment, resulting in decrease of its market share in terms of passenger volumes to 23.5% (compared to 25.9% in January 2008).
