The total of 5 120 592 passengers in the first half of 2010 at Prague Airport remain nearly on the same level (-0,3 %) compared with the first six months of the previous year. The positive traffic development from the first quarter was slowed down by the April flight cancellations following the eruptions of an Icelandic volcano and by weaker demand for charter flights in the summer months. Traffic results for the month of June 2010 reported 1 112 911 passengers, representing a decline of 1,6 %. While passenger numbers of the low cost airlines increased by 2,6 % year-on-year and those of the legacy carriers remained unchanged, charter flights slumped significantly by 13,2 %. With 14 824 movements, the total number of flights dropped by 3,2 % in June. The UK, Germany and Greece were the three most popular countries in terms of passenger numbers in June 2010. The most significant increase was achieved on routes to Russia (21,8 %), the Netherlands (20 %) and Denmark (16 %). Paris Charles de Gaulle was the most rapidly growing route with an increase by 34,1 %, followed by Barcelona (17,3 %) and Tel Aviv (15,7 %).
